This photo was taken at a Detroit Tiger baseball game at Comerica Park just about one week ago. It was a Monday game and the crowd was small, which allowed my son and I to get down in the first row next to the dugout to get a close look at the players before the game. Johnny Damon was nice enough to sign some autographs for us, and this was a photo taken and then manipulated with Adobe Photoshop. Hope you enjoy.

This image was taken in 2008 at the Budweiser Downtown Hoedown, which is held every Spring in Downtown Detroit. The concerts are country acts and the admission is free. There are approx. 3-4 million people coming and going during the 3-day event. This photo was of the lead singer of Lady Antebellum, which is a very popularup and coming country act. They have been winning all kinds of awards and have become superstars overnight. I took approximately 300 photos of the band during this show. The concert was very good and there were some very good acts performing during this particular day. When it comes to concert photography, always be on the alert for stage movement and try and have a very sharp focus on the performer. With a digital camera, be sure to set your camera so you can take continuous shots. If you hold down the shutter and take 4-5 continuous frames, this will help to find one of your photos being very sharp. This is my tip of the day. Try it. It works.

February 2, 2010These are just a few photographs that I took of Tim McGraw from 2005. The top photo is from during the concert at Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant Michigan. I had a very good friend that worked at Curb Records in Nashville at the time and I received meet and greets as well as free tickets to all of the shows for Tim McGraw. The next photo is from a special fan appreciation concert that Tim surprised his fans with during one of his tours that took place before his show during the meet and greet. The show took place at Soaring Eagle Casino and was wonderful to say the least. Tim has never failed to amaze his fans with his high energy concerts. He is truly a top notch entertainer and has a beautiful wife (Faith Hill) to boot. I look forward to seeing Tim once again in 2010. If you have never been to a Tim McGraw concert, you need to attend one as part of your list of things to do before you die. You will not be disappointed. The energy alone is something that you will not soon forget.
February 1, 2010The above image is of the "Zipper". I was fortunate enough to be a staff photographer for the Jackson County Fair for a few years. I have attended the fair since as far back as I can recall. My mother and father used to take our family every year to ride the rides, play the games, and see a concert. My mother has always had a love for music and we have seen a lot of very good acts at the fairgrounds. Little did I know as a child, that I would someday be shooting images of the concerts as well as taking other stock photographs for the fair. I would say that it was enjoyable, but that would be an understatement. I love photography and I love the fair. Give me a few rolls of film and a corn dog and I am more than content. The zipper was a very colorful ride as well as being one that is very recognizable by fair goers.
One nice thing with digital photographs, you can edit them very easily with photoshop plug-ins. I gave this particular image a film effect, giving it the vibrancy of the old Fuji Velvia film through a plug-in. I will be giving other examples of editing in blogs to come. Enjoy.
Photography has been a hobby of mine for many many years and I have been fortunate enough to take a lot of photographs of a lot of different things, including celebrities. For example, in 2009 I was able to attend the Buick Open, a professional golf tournament with players from the P.G.A. Of course, the exciting pairing during the pro-am event that I attended was a pairing that included Tiger Woods and Bob Seger. I followed them around for several holes and watched them golf. Having a digital camera allows you to take a whole lot of photos, not like in the days of negative film where you had to swap out film after 24 or 36 shots. I am guessing that I shot over 300 photos on this day. Some of the shots were at 4 frames per second using my digital camera and a large zoom lens of Tiger's golf swing, which was pretty cool.Tiger was not playing well, but having a good time. Bob Seger is a fair golfer at best and seemed to wear on Tiger's patience throughout the day. We enjoyed the day. Very Hot. Very Tiring with walking. But...would not trade it for anything in the world. The photo to the left is a photo that I took during my adventures on that warm summer day at the Buick Open Pro-Am event. What a smile. Little did he know how popular, or unpopular, he would later become.

This is a photo of our puppy dog "Penelope". She is a mix Pomeranian and Chihuahua. She is taking a nap as we wore her out today while shopping. We took her to her favorite pet supply store so she could walk around and see all of the other dogs and even look at the rabbits, birds, and fish. She is very spoiled and loved and was able to get some snacks as well as a new squeeky toy during her adventure. We als
o went to some other stores and she was a patient young lady and waited patiently in the van while we shopped. She had a nice U of M sweater on...so she was very warm while waiting for us to accompany her back to her familiar surroundings of home. She had a very enjoyable day and she is now unwinding and hoping she has another exciting day like today sometime soon. I am not sure if she will be up to watching the pro bowl tonight or not, but she is looking forward to the Super Bowl next weekend and is a fan of the Saints. I am sure there will be more posts about her in the near future.
